Responsibilities

The Richmond Housing Authority (RHA) provides decent affordable housing for low and very low-income residents of Richmond through our federally funded housing programs:

Section 8 Transfer Update June 2019

Effective July 1, 2019, the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa will be assuming management responsibilities for approximately 1,700 Housing Choice Vouchers currently administered by the Richmond Housing Authority (RHA). Key activities scheduled:

  • June 12, 2019: 10:00 A.M. -11:30 A.M., An Informational Meeting for the general public will be held in the City Council Chambers (440 Civic Center Plaza) (Completed)
  • June 12, 2019: 5:00 P.M.-6:30 P.M., An Informational Meeting for Landlords will be held in the City Council Chambers (Completed)
  • June 13, 2019: 5:00 P.M.-6:30 P.M., An Informational Meeting for current RHA voucher holders will be held in the City Council Chambers (Completed)
  • July 1, 2019: A satellite office is being opened for Richmond residents at 2324 College Lane, San Pablo, CA 94806 (Completed)

Nevin Plaza Development - Request for Proposals (RFP)

The Richmond Housing Authority (RHA) is seeking a qualified affordable housing development team to partner on the redevelopment and operations of Nevin Plaza. The development team will work with RHA to convert Nevin Plaza to a local Project Based Vouchers (PBV) contract using the Section 18 Disposition process. The team will also leverage Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and other state and local development subsidies to address capital needs.

The Richmond Housing Authority welcomes households with valid Section 8 vouchers. NOTE: RHA is not absorbing incoming ports.


​Claims


Claims against the Richmond Housing Authority are filed in the City Clerk's Office, and must be filed within six months of the incident.
