DPRC enables young people and adults with disabilities meet their full recreational potential. The center creates an atmosphere of support, while teaching important life skills. Our staff enables each participant to discover their own abilities and strengths and show them how they are best used.

We promote communication through art, music therapy and sports. We enhance self-awareness through, art, movement, and dance. We teach independence through games, excursions, cooking and public transportation. We encourage team play through group sports and fitness. We have been serving participants from Richmond, Hercules, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Pinole and Kensington area since 1977.

We are in the process of increasing program days and hours of operation.

Therapeutic Interactive Recreation Program (TIRP)
DPRC offers a full array of activities for youth, teens and young adults with disabilities who desire to enrich their lives through recreation. We promote a fun and safe environment geared to prepare them on an adventure of discovering their abilities and strengths and how it is best used. They will gain independence, confidence, social skills, life skills and communication skills through music therapy, cooking classes, sports/fitness, art and games. Their awareness for the community is enriched through BART trips, excursions and community walks. We strive to share the best in us to bring out the best in our participants.
